26 Year old Stephanie
Christink has brought the inner-city fashion scene into her small
hometown of Pembroke Ontario with her innate talent and unbridled
creativity.
From dressing Barbies for
thier "special events" as a little girl, to organizing her own themed
fashion show including the costume designs, fittings, and choreography,
her fashion focus has really grown and begun to stir up local interest.
The young Entrepreneur opened the new store "Hotpress Boutique"
in November of 2004, which offers not only fabulous clothing lines such
as UK's Gentle Fawn, Boxfresh, Triple 5 Soul, and Hooch, but clothing
alterations, custom lettering, and the shop's specialty; hundreds of
great transfers and shirts for pressing. The Store's fun and funky atmosphere
is like a breath of fresh air to big city shoppers, and is quickly gaining
in popularity.
Stephanie studied for 2 years in Ottawa at Richard Robinson Academy
of Fashion Design. She was then chosen to represent the school in an
International Fashion competition in Montreal, and landed a full colour
write up in the Arts section of the Ottawa Sun, which included a photo
of Stephanie wearing an outfit made of lambskin leather and mink fur
that she herself designed.
Part of her program was a 1 week Internship with her all-time
favourite clothing company, "Lucious", where her unique ideas and impressive
creations later got her hired as a "Design Assistant" for head designer
Rebecca Ford.
She has also worked in retail for "Diesel" and as a runway model
for an Ottawa Agency called "Models International", featuring a new
collection from famous label Hugo Boss. Local designers from "The District
of Chabanel" hooked Stephanie up with an appearance on the show "Fashion
File", which included a brief interview and 15 seconds of fame on the
runway.
Stephanie has modeled in print work for both labels Lucious and
Kitchen Orange. She even appeared in the popular "Salon" hair magazine,
as well as "Nightlife" magazine for an adorable Emily Strange clothing
ad for Scarlet Boutique in Montreal.
Stephanie began her first solo project, "G.I. Jane" in the summer
of 2005, which she kicked off with a stunning, ultra-feminine, military-themed
Fashion show in downtown Pembroke. Only a few months later, Detail Lab's
Photographer Todd Cybulski shot a lengthly professional photo shoot
in Base Petawawa of the G.I. Jane models in "military action"... only
this time, including Stephanie herself!
Having her own clothing line has always been a dream of Stephanie's.
She combines her love for 70's retro styles with her own modern touch
of clean lines, bold cuts, and beautiful fabrics. Sometimes all it takes
is a piece of fabric in her hands for her imagination to spark up a
new vision for a project. Her wonderful success in just the past 2 years
alone is reason enough to believe that her hard work and determination
will take this unique artist into a world of dreams that come true.
"Fashion"
your seat belts, because Stephanie is already planning a new idea for
an exciting theme to bring to you in the upcoming year! There is no
doubt that it will be altogether unforgettable. |
